Privacy Policy for Wordbook

Wordbook is operated by Sahal Hassan Nazar, publishing as Highcursor ("Wordbook," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what information Wordbook processes, why it is processed, who receives it, how long it is retained, and how users can request deletion.

Information stored on your device

Wordbook stores bookmarks, Syllable Studio drafts and draft settings, quiz progress, theme and other preferences, cached Word of the Day information, login state, advertising-consent information, and a randomly generated guest identifier on your device.

Dictionary searches, dictionary content, and Syllable Studio text are processed locally. Wordbook does not intentionally upload search or draft text to our servers. We may collect measurements such as input length, syllable count, result count, processing time, and feature usage without collecting the text itself.

Accounts and Firebase Authentication

Creating a Google-linked account is optional. Guest use creates an anonymous Firebase account and a random guest identifier. When you sign in with Google, Google and Firebase Authentication process authentication credentials and provide Wordbook with a Firebase user ID, email address, and display name. Firebase may also process IP addresses and user-agent information for account security and abuse prevention.

Wordbook uses this information to authenticate you, display your account, associate purchases with the correct user, and support account deletion. Wordbook does not receive your Google password.

Analytics

Production versions of Wordbook use Google Analytics for Firebase. Analytics collection occurs automatically while the production app is used. It may process an app-instance or device identifier, device and operating-system information, app version, approximate geography, sessions, app launches, app and screen interactions, feature usage, advertising interactions, purchase events, and custom diagnostics.

Wordbook also records aggregate feature measurements such as query length, result count, syllable count, processing time, quiz progress, bookmark actions, and subscription status. Wordbook does not intentionally send names, email addresses, draft text, or search text to Analytics. We use this data to measure usage, improve features, and diagnose problems.

Crash reporting

Wordbook uses Firebase Crashlytics in production builds. Crashlytics may process crash stack traces, exception details, timestamps, installation identifiers, app version, device model, operating-system version, CPU architecture, available memory and storage, rooted-device status, screen or navigation context, app or device state, and custom diagnostic keys. We use this data to investigate and fix crashes. We do not intentionally attach your email address, draft text, or search text to crash reports.

Subscriptions and purchases

Wordbook uses RevenueCat and Google Play Billing to provide Wordbook Pro, check subscription status, and restore purchases. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous Firebase user ID or guest identifier, Google Play purchase token or receipt, product and transaction information, purchase dates, subscription, entitlement and restore status, and technical app or device information.

Google Play handles payment and subscription processing. Wordbook receives purchase and entitlement metadata rather than your full payment-card or bank-account details. Deleting Wordbook or RevenueCat data does not cancel an active Google Play subscription. You must cancel it separately through Google Play. Cancellation prevents future renewals but does not necessarily provide a refund.

Advertising

Free users may receive banner and rewarded ads through Google AdMob. Depending on consent, region, and device settings, AdMob may process IP-derived approximate location, advertising or app-set identifiers, app and ad interactions, device or account identifiers, diagnostics, and consent information for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. Where required, Wordbook uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request and manage advertising consent. Premium users are not shown ads.

Firebase Remote Config and Firestore

Wordbook uses Firebase Remote Config to retrieve operational settings, such as whether advertising is enabled. It uses a Firebase Installation ID and technical configuration data. Wordbook also downloads a public affiliate-book catalogue from Cloud Firestore and may cache it locally. Wordbook does not upload bookmarks, drafts, or other user-authored content to Firestore.

Amazon links and support

If you follow an Amazon affiliate link, Amazon receives the link or book clicked and normal browser request data when you leave Wordbook. If you contact us by email, we receive whatever information you voluntarily include in your support or feature request.

How information is shared

Information is provided to Google, Firebase, Google Play, RevenueCat, AdMob, and UMP as service providers when needed for authentication, analytics, crash reporting, advertising, configuration, and subscriptions. Information may also be disclosed where required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate safeguards. Wordbook does not sell personal information.

Retention

  • Local data remains until you delete it, clear app data, complete account deletion, or uninstall Wordbook.
  • Firebase Authentication data is retained while the account exists. Firebase retains logged IP addresses for a few weeks; after deletion is initiated, authentication information is removed from live and backup systems within 180 days.
  • Crashlytics retains crash traces and associated installation identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal.
  • Firebase Installation IDs used by Remote Config are retained until the deletion API is called, then removed from live and backup systems within 180 days.
  • Analytics user- and event-level data is retained for up to 2 months. Standard aggregated reports are not governed by that setting and may be retained longer.
  • RevenueCat data is retained while needed to provide and restore purchases. On a valid erasure request, we request deletion of the customer record. Limited records may remain where required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement.
  • Support communications are retained for up to 24 months unless longer retention is needed to resolve a request or meet a legal obligation.
  • Aggregated or de-identified information may be retained longer where it can no longer reasonably identify you.

Account and data deletion

Request deletion through Settings → Account → Delete account in Wordbook or through our account-deletion page.

Completed deletion removes your Wordbook Firebase Authentication account, requests deletion of the associated RevenueCat customer record, and removes locally stored bookmarks, drafts and draft settings, quiz progress, guest and login identifiers, and other local user data covered by the request. Diagnostic data may remain until the retention periods above expire, and limited information may be retained when legally required.

Deleting Wordbook data does not delete your Google account and does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel active subscriptions separately through Google Play.

Security and international processing

Wordbook and its service providers use encryption in transit and reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No method is completely secure. Firebase and RevenueCat may process information outside your country, including in the United States, subject to applicable contractual safeguards.

Children

Wordbook is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise an applicable right.
